It seems like Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz can’t enjoy a leisurely retirement as hackers and shooters threaten his life continuously. After the 2019 shooting incident, things seemed to calm down until recently hackers snooped into Ortiz’ old personal phone.
According to the Hall of Famer, hackers tried to extort him of money after threatening to reveal his phone’s personal details to the public. Appropriate police actions have been taken place following the incident. Ortiz claimed that the FBI, DEA, and the Dominican Republic Intelligence Department, the police are all looking into the matter.
Shockingly, Ortiz, also known as ‘Big Papi’ revealed that this was done by the same person who was involved in the bank fraud case 6 months ago. “This same person six months ago did bank fraud on my bank account.”
He further called himself to be a “victim of extortion” as hackers threatened to “sell” personal life details in order to “extort me”. “They navigated through my personal life and have wanted to extort me through that.” He hoped this happen to no one and suggested contacting the law if anyone fell into such danger.
David Ortiz’s peace gets shattered as his personal life is threatened by hackers
Despite being the victim, David Ortiz boldly stated that “it’s nothing, my people. It can happen to anyone.” As fans grow concerned over the situation, the hope is that police act quickly to catch the perpetrator of such plans. Apart from being threatened by hackers, he was also a victim of a shooting in 2019.
‘Big Papi’ landed in intensive care after he got shot at a Dominican nightclub right after retirement 4 years ago. 13 suspects were arrested for the incident from which two different stories were extracted. The police suspected a drug trafficker had ordered to shoot the man sitting next to Ortiz for $30,000, while other sources claim that Ortiz was a targeted victim of the drug lord Cesar Peralta who put a bounty on him, according to a Boston Globe report.
In the recent hacking case, Ortiz claimed that the phone the hackers used for threatening has been lying dead for more than 15 years. He has not used that phone in a long while which gave the hackers the perfect deal for threatening to extort a said amount of money.
He admitted that he is afraid of what details the hackers might reveal to the public, but posted an Instagram video to spread positivity despite the grim situation. Fans are praying for the best for the MLB icon, hoping the assailants get caught quickly.
