Man killed by train identified, suspect eats his leg and waves it around: coroner

WASCO, Calif. (KBAK/FOX58) The man who was struck and killed by a train in Wasco back in late March and whose leg was allegedly eaten by a man has been identified by the Kern County Coroner's Office.

The man who was struck and killed by a train in Wasco back in late March and whose leg was allegedly eaten by a man has been identified by the Kern County Coroner's Office.

The coroner said at around 8 a.m., March 22, Horacio Ayala-Penaloza, 48, of Wasco, was struck by a train in the 700 block of G Street. He died at the scene.

A 27-year-old man who removed Ayala-Penaloza's leg from the scene was seen by witnesses shortly later waving around his leg and allegedly eating it, according to viewer video.

Resendo Tellez was sentenced to a year in jail in early May. Tellez also faced charges of bringing drugs into jail.

An autopsy revealed that Ayala-Penaloza's cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries and the manner of death was an accident.
