Khamzat Chimaev has successfully established himself as one of the most popular stars on the UFC roster. The fighter who made his debut in 2020 has already fought some of the best guys in the UFC welterweight division. Looking at his performances and the dominance he brought to the octagon, Chimaev is undoubtedly a major threat to the championship throne.

All this popularity and success also helped the fighter to make more money than he ever made. His last two fights were featured in pay-per-view events and in the fight against Kevin Holland, he made the most amount of money from a fight in his career. In a recent interview, Chimaev was asked about his fight purse and the fighter revealed that he got around $1 million but not all of that came into his pocket. According to the fighter, he lives in Sweden and had to pay a lot of tax which ultimately cut his fight purse in half.

He said: “I never make that much money but I pay a lot of tax. I live in Sweden. Everyone is thinking like when you get the one million dollars, you get one million dollars but it’s not that. You don’t get like half of that”

Fighters complaining about fight purses, taxes, and coaching fees is not new and recently many others have also opened up about it. Khamzat Chimaev is currently in the big leagues and will probably make more money the next time he comes into the octagon. Interestingly, his next potential fight might be a great Pay-per-view event as the fighter is rumored to fight the middleweight champion Alex Pereira.

Alex Pereira’s teammate Glover Teixeira doesn’t think the Brazilian is going to fight Khamzat Chimaev

Immediately after Alex Pereira beat Israel Adesanya for the Middleweight championship, Khamzat Chimaev made his callout. Pereira didn’t sit back silently and mocked Chimaev through some internet posts.

Fight fans seemed to show interest in the showdown too as both fighters are extremely entertaining to watch. However, Pereira’s teammate and friend, Glover Teixeira had some different opinions on the fight. According to the former light heavyweight champion, the Chimaev fight doesn’t have any substance. He said: “This fight is all talk. I usually don’t get into talk that doesn’t make any sense, but to light heavyweight, this guy says he accepted it.” in the MMA Hour Show.

Chimaev is a fan favorite and currently has another option in Colby Covington. If Pereira decides to fight Adesanya again, Chimaev will most probably fight Covington, which is again a big money fight.
