Her comments infuriated the fan base and Biles herself who made a savage comeback to her post on threads. The Olympian hinted at her problematic past noting, “Not everyone needs a mic and a platform.”

The whole squabble started when the 2020 silver medalist questioned Simone Biles’ teammate’s talents as they were headed for the Paris Olympics. Her unfiltered thought enraged many fans on social platforms, and she ultimately posted a video on her Instagram stories, apologizing to Team USA.

Besides Simone, I feel like the talent and the depth just isn’t what it used to be. I mean, obviously, a lot of girls don’t work as hard.

MyKayla Skinner is really out here advocating for abusing athletes and thinking she’s something special when she only made the team as an individual (she didn’t participate in team AA) and she only competed because Simone withdrew. Girl, shut up.

In her apology video, Skinner said she’s sorry if “anything that got out of context or seemed hurtful” because “that was not my intention.” She further said she’s cheering for them and loves them for what they are about to do on the Olympic stage.

Simone Biles says “the anticipation” before Team USA participants were announced was nervewracking

Prior to the controversial drama between Simone Biles and MyKayla Skinner, the 4x Olympian shared what it was like backstage waiting for the results. In an Instagram story, she alongside her teammates Joscelyn Roberson, Jordan Chiles, and Jade Carey could be seen standing in “the anticipation” of the results.

Chiles was seen resting her head on Biles’s shoulders when it was announced that all of them were heading for the Paris Games. Apart from Chiles, and Carey, Suni Lee, and Hezly Rivera are also part of the USA Women’s Gymnastics team, while Roberson and Leanne Wong will be replacement athletes.

Most of them were part of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Games, and this trip to Paris will be sort of their “redemption” journey as Biles and Lee noted. Both of them have been through mental stress and took a hiatus from training last year.

Biles was suffering from performance pressure and twisties, while Lee was later diagnosed with kidney disease. Despite their mental and physical states, both athletes were able to stand strong and make their Olympic dreams come true in 2024.
