"This is not the result that we ever want," said Interim BPD Chief Ron Winegar. "I am deeply concerned, frankly, about the people who are willing to present and use deadly force against police officers in our community, and the frequency in which that seems to be happening, is very troubling."

Police said, as they attempted to take the suspect into custody, he showed something that looked like a weapon and an officer shot him.

The officers immediately started medical aid, but the suspect died on scene.

CBS 2 News will update this article when the he is identified publicly.

The officer who shot him was not physically injured and will be placed on paid administrated leave per the department's policy.

The information is considered preliminary pending the results of the CITF Investigation.

BPD will conduct an internal investigation and any video evidence will be reviewed.

The City of Boise Office of Police Accountability will also conduct a separate investigation.
